About This Proceeding
The Felton Fire Protection District Board of Directors called for an assessment ballot proceeding on the Fire Protection and Emergency Response Services Assessment. The proceeding was conducted under Article XIIID of the California Constitution (Proposition 218) and California Government Code § 50078 et seq., as supplemented by Government Code §§ 53759.1 and 53759.2 (AB 2257).
Each property owner of record within the District received a ballot package by mail beginning May 20, 2026. Ballots were weighted by the proportional assessment amount for each property. Because the weighted ballots submitted in opposition did not exceed those submitted in support at the close of the public input portion of the public hearing, the Board approved the levy of the assessment for fiscal year 2026-27 and continuing fiscal years.
The funds raised by the assessment support the District's fire protection and emergency response services for the Felton community.

En la audiencia pública del 24 de julio de 2026, la Junta Directiva tabuló las boletas devueltas. Las boletas ponderadas presentadas a favor representaron el 67.88% de la evaluación total, y la Junta aprobó la imposición de la evaluación para el año fiscal 2026-27 y los años fiscales siguientes.
