Property owner information for the proposed FY 2026-27 benefit assessment under California Government Code § 50078 et seq. and Article XIIID of the California Constitution (Proposition 218). Property owners within the Felton Fire Protection District will receive an official assessment ballot by mail.
The Felton Fire Protection District Board of Directors has called for an assessment ballot proceeding on a proposed Fire Protection and Emergency Response Services Assessment. The proceeding is being conducted under Article XIIID of the California Constitution (Proposition 218) and California Government Code § 50078 et seq., as supplemented by Government Code §§ 53759.1 and 53759.2 (AB 2257).
Each property owner of record within the District will receive a ballot package by mail beginning May 20, 2026. The package contains the official assessment ballot, return instructions, a postage-paid return envelope, and the bilingual Official Notice and Ballot Information Guide.
Ballots are weighted by the proportional assessment amount for each property. If, at the close of the public input portion of the public hearing, weighted ballots submitted in opposition do not exceed those in favor, the Board may approve the levy of the assessment for fiscal year 2026-27 and continuing fiscal years.

Download PDF / Descargar PDFIf you wish to object to this assessment on the grounds that you believe it does not comply with the California Constitution, please submit a written objection to the Felton Fire Protection District by July 6, 2026. The objection must state the specific grounds for alleging noncompliance with the California Constitution and include a mailing address where the District can respond to your concerns in writing.
Do not include your written objection with your ballot. The objection procedure is separate from the ballot. Submitting a written objection does not affect your ability to vote, and voting does not constitute a written objection.
Property owners who do not submit a timely written objection in accordance with this procedure will be barred from subsequently challenging the assessment in court, pursuant to Government Code § 53759.1.

To complete the official ballot, mark the oval next to either "Yes" or "No," sign the ballot, fold it so your vote is on the inside of the fold, and place it in the provided postage-paid return envelope.
Only official ballots that are signed and marked with the property owner's support or opposition will be counted. Ballots received after the close of the public input portion of the public hearing will not be tabulated.

A public hearing will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. before the Felton Fire Protection District Board of Directors at the Felton Fire Station, 131 Kirby Street, Felton, CA 95018. All property owners are invited to attend and voice their opinions on the proposed assessment.
Tabulation of returned ballots will commence after the close of the public input portion of the hearing, and the results are expected to be announced during the same meeting.
