Felton Fire Protection District

Auxiliary

If you Google or actually open up a Webster’s Dictionary and look up the meaning of ‘auxiliary,’ you will find the following adjective synonyms: reserve, backup, supplemental, and fallback. Noun synonyms include: a person or thing, group that provides additional help and support.

The Felton Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary (FVFDA) is perfectly described by these definitions, and has a long, rich, history going back to 1954 working beside the Felton Volunteer Fire Department. Over the past 50 plus years some things have changed or been updated.

Our two main fundraisers are the Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast and Santa’s Shelves Craft Faire – held the weekend before Thanksgiving. All of the profits raised from these fundraisers are used to purchase emergency and fire equipment that the Fire Department needs. We have purchased fire hoses, wildland fire equipment, Jaws of Life, rescue harnesses, saws, large animal rescue equipment, as well as providing the funds for each new volunteer firefighter’s dress uniform. If there’s anything the department requests, we try to accommodate them using the funds we have raised and have within our budget.

We also support the firefighters in their fund raising and public awareness and training events.  We provide not only assistance monetarily and in service, but provide meals to the firefighters during fires or rescues as needed.

The Auxiliary meets every third Monday of the month at the Firehouse, except for July and August. In June we have a BBQ for our members. In December we celebrate the year with a nice dinner and gift exchange. We are always accepting new members and you can complete the Auxiliary Application to get started. Our dues are only $10.00 for the year, and are collected each March.

If you have any questions you can contact the Auxiliary via email at [email protected].
