       Volunteering with the Felton Fire Protection District

Being a volunteer fire fighter is an extremely rewarding experience. Fire fighters make a difference in the community. A fire fighter's service to the community of Felton is beyond words. Fire fighters come to the aid of persons in times of greatest need. Life and death is often in the balance. Felton fire fighters have and will continue to positively impact the well being of all persons in the Felton Fire Protection District.

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer fire fighter with Felton Fire Protection District? Here is information for you to consider.

• You must be at least 18 years of age
•   Possess a valid drivers license
•   You must submit an application to the fire district. Click Here For The Application.
•   You must pass a physical agility exam and medical physical
•   You must live or work within the service boundaries of the Felton Fire Protection District
•   You must not have a criminal record
•   You must complete an introductory fire academy taught by Felton Fire Protection District. This academy begins after completion of all the above mentioned items
•   You must be a team player. A person with a service oriented spirit. Possess the ability to work well with others, working in pairs or teams.
•   You must be a person who is able to hold your tongue. Your words are heard by your fellow fire fighters and the public you are serving. Certain laws prohibit speaking about emergency situations and circumstances.
•   You must have an ability to handle seeing and experiencing traumatic, violent, emotional situations.

Volunteering with the Felton Fire Auxiliary

If you want to volunteer with the fire district, but fire fighting is not for you, then the Auxiliary might fit for you. The Auxiliary supports the fire district with financial and logistic support. The Auxiliary hosts a couple of fund raisers each year. These funds are used to purchase new or replace worn equipment. Once in awhile, the Auxiliary prepares a meal for fire fighters working an emergency. The Auxiliary meets on the Third Monday of each month at 7pm at the fire station. If you are interested in joining the Auxiliary, come to the next meeting and they will welcome you!
